BEYOND VISIBILITY: WHEN AUTOMATED IT AND OT RESPONSE BECOMES RESILIENCE

Nicola Mugnato

Drawing on a real-world case study, the session demonstrates how remote access, third parties, legacy systems and IT–OT convergence can introduce vulnerabilities that are difficult to identify and may translate into tangible risks to infrastructure and operational continuity.
Starting with the analysis of an attack scenario targeting OT infrastructure, the session will explain why regulatory compliance and the adoption of security best practices are essential, yet do not guarantee immunity from cyberattacks. It will also examine why anomaly detection alone is no longer sufficient and how an approach based on continuous monitoring, contextual awareness, and automated real-time response can dramatically reduce response times.
A practical journey from prevention to resilience, featuring guidance and lessons learned that can also be applied by SMEs and local manufacturing organizations.
